Student Council
The Student Council of St. John the Beloved School, founded by the Order of St. Francis, has for its patron St. Francis of Assisi.
The Goals of Student Council:
- To foster a positive school spirit through activities planned by its members
- To encourage the entire student body to express its opinions on school issues through the student council representatives
- To provide leadership opportunities for council members
- Through its many outreach activities, to develop a committed social consciousness among the student population. Project Amigo Angels, Emmanuel Dining Room, and the St. John the Beloved Parish Outreach Program are all beneficiaries of student council fund raisers. *For additional information on these programs, please view “School Outreach Programs” on the school’s website.
Membership of Student Council:
- The school’s student council consists of thirty-four members. It is guided by a faculty advisor.
- The four executive officers (president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary) are members of the eighth grade class. The officers are elected by students in grades three through seven in May of their seventh grade year.
2024-25 Student Council Officers

- The additional twenty-four student council members consist of two representatives from each of the third through eighth grade homerooms. They are elected by their homeroom peers each September.
- Eligibility criteria for membership in student council include good behavior standards, solid academic record, and candidates’ approval by seventh and eighth grade teachers.
Student Council Activities:
- Planning and implementing a wide range of activities including dress down (theme/casual) days to benefit the less fortunate.

- Preparation and presentation of the school’s daily, televised announcements. Organizing school wide spirit days to recognize the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of the entire student body
- Acting as Open House guides for prospective students and their parents
- Serving as lectors and greeters at school liturgies
- Volunteering members’ assistance to faculty, staff, and administration
