St John the Beloved School

     St. John the Beloved School is a Catholic, parish elementary school in Wilmington, Delaware educating students in the Franciscan tradition.  The mission of St. John the Beloved School is to “teach and model the Gospel of Jesus Christ; foster academic excellence and provide service to others.”  The members of our school community, parents, faculty and staff, strive to meet this challenge enthusiastically as we collaborate to create a supportive and nurturing environment for every student.

     The transmission of our Catholic faith is the central ethos at St. John the Beloved School.  Through tradition, catechesis and formation each student encounters Christ in their lives.  The modeling of Christian values permeates daily life in school.  Through student driven activities, individuals experience, grow and mature in their personal relationship with God.

     Developing Christian leaders who are rooted in their faith and help to create the future, St. John the Beloved School offers a wide array of opportunity for our students.  A faculty that implements a rich and rigorous curriculum that incorporates differentiated learning to support diverse learning styles motivates students.   A technology infused curriculum engages 21^st century learners through our 1:1 Chromebook initiative, use of SMART boards as well as a newly renovated Technology Lab and curriculum to support digital learners.

     Supporting the growth and development of all facets of our students, St. John the Beloved School builds upon and expands the strong foundation of Catholic education by offering research based, practice driven, experimental learning and character education programming in Middle School to enhance self-awareness, peer relationships and goal setting.  An instrumental music program, Art program and foreign language program are a standard part of the elementary program.

     A vital component of the student experience at St. John the Beloved School is the focus of service to others.  A parent/school driven Adopt-A-Family program supports students to volunteer to offer their talents to help support others through service activities that benefit many parts of the community.  The student body also participates in yearly opportunities to serve our partner agencies in the city of Wilmington.  Our student government members build upon an awareness of service on a global level by successfully raising funds to build and to furnish our partner school in Nicaragua.  Presently, efforts are underway to support the creation of another school in the same area.

     St. John the Beloved School is proud of its present students and is committed to continuing to be a beacon in the parish community that offers individuals a chance to develop in faith, grow in friendship and flourish in community.
